Materials we use

Oak Wood Veneer

We use high quality A/B grade Oak Veneered MDF panel which is suitable for laser cutting and engraving.

The depth of the Oak veneer that we use is 4mm.

This product conforms to E1 (low) formaldehyde levels and is often described as 'Laser Grade' MDF but there is no official classification for this.

Wood is a natural product and each piece is different. There may be marks and knots that occur naturally - these are not defects but ensure that  every piece is unique.

Slate Signs

Made from natural slate these stylish signs will maintain their look long-term, but if they do start to fade with age, they can be brought back to life with a little olive oil.

They can easily be wiped clean with warm water, or warm water mixed with a small amount of mild detergent.

Our slate signs and coasters are made from Natural Slate. As a natural product, the corners and edges are rough and not linear and may not be completely square. These are not defects and everything is carefully packaged so that you receive you order exactly as we have sent it. There may be small darker patches on the laser engraving where it has to navigate the unsmooth surface of the slate. It all adds to the rustic charm of the product!

Ribbon for Wedding Horseshoes

I use ribbon from a leading European yarn supplier who have developed a ribbon which is woven with yarns made from 100% used plastic bottles. The bottles are collected via recycling points within mainland Europe, are thoroughly cleaned then broken down into smaller plastic elements before being melted back into a liquid form then converted into filaments, which are spun to create 100% recycled yarn. 100,000 metres of 25mm satin uses 12,000 plastic bottles. That means 12,000 bottles not going to waste, landfill or damaging the wider environment. The resulting yarns are certified by GRS which is the Global Recycled Standard and also by Oeko Tex which is the global industry standard for textiles.

The look and feel of this ribbon is so similar to standard polyester ribbon that you wouldn't know the difference.

Packaging

I try to use as many biodegradable, recycled and sustainable packaging items as I can and where possible I reuse clean packaging.

Some items will be delivered in a cardboard box and are carefully packed with either packaging pillows which can be popped into your recycling or packaging peanuts that can be dissolved in water. With these boxes I use paper packaging and fragile tape.

Pocket Hugs will be delivered in a A5 card backed envelope.

Where plastic packaging is used, it is kept to a minimum and I will continue to try and find suitable alternatives. If removed carefully, this packaging can be re-used by you.

A majority of my packaging is purchased from a company in the UK which is Carbon Neutral Certified.
